After 21 years as a classroom teacher, I know what students need to be successful, and I've finally found a way to provide it. As a Learning Success Coach, my goal is twofold: first, to empower students to believe in their ability to face learning challenges head-on so that they can grow into lifelong learners and confident adults; and second, to partner with families to free them from the frustration and stress surrounding their students’ schooling.
I specialize in building students' confidence and skills in writing and math, as well as helping students learn to learn. Unlike tutors who focus mainly on content and teachers who are limited by policies, time, and curriculum, I am free to design a plan that meets my students exactly where they are and addresses the needs of the whole child. I believe every child has unlimited potential, and it is my mission to help them unlock that potential and find success in school and beyond.
By working with a Certified Wholistic NeuroGrowth Learning Success Coach, students unlock the power that comes with understanding how their brain works, how they learn, and how they can take control of their learning. With this understanding, they approach school and learning with a new attitude, which results in improved effort, confidence, and grades.
Parents are freed from the helplessness of knowing their child is struggling but not knowing how to help. The shift in the student's mindset, the implementation of specific actions, and the acquisition of a necessary skill set work together to transform the student's relationship with learning. Students are successful after years of struggling.
By learning that they can do hard things, they peel away limiting beliefs about what defines them (exceptionalities, learning challenges, emotional or behavioral struggles) and discover their true abilities and superpowers. They develop the ability to simplify the story and break down complicated information into understandable chunks to allow them to build and retain new knowledge. This means no more shutting down when content feels overwhelming and being able to mute the "noise" and focus on the important parts.
In addition, students discover how they learn best and which methods and strategies make sense to them. They discover that there is more than one way to learn and begin to take ownership of their learning.
This empowered, confident, persistent learner has officially been "unlocked," and the possibilities for learning and achievement are limitless."
